It seems a simple request.

I want to be seen by my God. I want my God to see me and know me.

Simple, right?

But is it really? We are all sinners. Sinning every day with our thoughts, our actions, our words and deeds and imaginations. Do our selfish and sinful human natures really want someone watching us, every minute of every day, watching and judging all we ever do and all we have ever done? Of course not.

Help me, Lord, to say and to truly mean the words when I pray, “Search me, oh God, and know my heart. Try thou my inmost thought. I walk with steadfast trust in thee…” I am secure in the knowledge of your wisdom. I know that all things work towards my good, in the end.
